Arena Rail Holidays unveils programme for 2018 Arena Rail Holidays, formerly Diamond Rail, has unveiled its new programme for 2018, which will feature for the first time, two itineraries combining holidays by rail and river cruises.
The German city of HeidelbergThere will also be more ‘little trains’ tours on historic narrow gauge and steam railways; and an adventure through Europe to North Africa, alongside upgraded existing itineraries through the mountains, lakes and valleys of Europe.
Steve Goodenough, managing director of Arena Rail Holidays said: “We have taken the opportunity to review and revise, the itineraries and accommodation offering, in order to ensure a consistently high standard for clients. We have responded to demand for more ‘little trains’ options, drawing on the popularity of existing itineraries, as well as introducing tours to a wider range of destinations that many people do not otherwise consider visiting by rail.”

LATA comments on early release of Peru Inca Trail permits It has been announced that permits to trek Peru’s Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in 2018 are being released four months early on 1 October 2017.
Machu PicchuPeru’s Ministry of Culture issue 500 permits a day for the four-day hike with 200 being issued to tourists and the other 300 reserved for cooks, porters and guides.
The early release of the permits comes shortly after Peru’s official tourism body introduced a new system in July, aimed at regulating the flow of visitors to the site and preserving the authenticity of this national treasure.

NCL focuses on UK market Norwegian Cruise Line has experienced rapid growth worldwide during the past few years, in particular in the UK market, which is now the company’s largest international market outside of the USA.
Norwegian SunAs a result of this success and taking the potential of the UK market into account, the cruise line has announced an organisational restructure in the EMEA region.
The EMEA region is being restructured into two markets: Continental Europe (CE) and Scandinavia; and UK, Ireland (UK&I) and Middle East and Africa (MEA).
These markets will be responsible for their own sales and marketing activities and each will report directly to Harry Sommer, executive vice president, international business development Norwegian Cruise Line.

CTO reveals strong growth The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) has released its latest visitor figures for January to August 2017, showing continued growth in 2017.
Pafos, CyprusFrom January to August 2017, global tourist arrivals to the destination reached 2,517,887, compared to 2,196,017 in 2016; a year-on-year increase of 14.7%. UK arrivals during this period reached 185,831; a 7.9% increase compared to the 172,236 UK arrivals from January to August in 2016.
During the month of August 2017, Cyprus welcomed 523,651 global visitors; a 14.2% increase on August 2016, which saw 458,645 global tourists visiting the country. Of these, there were 185,831 UK visitors compared to the 172,236 UK arrivals in August 2016; a 7.9% year on year increase.
In July 2017, 531,030 global tourists visited the island compared to 482,132 in July 2016 (a 10.1% increase). Of those, there were 176,880 British tourist arrivals in July 2017; up 6% from the same month in 2016 when 166,874 British tourists v..
