Hotel 101 Resort-Boracay to go big and green in the Philippines
Manila, Philippines – DoubleDragon Properties Corp. recently announced the opening of Philippines’ biggest hotel in its southernmost region. And now, it’s official, the mega-group will also be building the biggest ‘green’ hotel in the country – Hotel 101 Resort-Boracay.
Hotel 101 Resort-Boracay is a joint venture between Hotel of Asia Inc., a subsidiary of DoubleDragon Properties Corp., and Newcoast South Beach Inc.
It will be situated on the resort island of Boracay, one of the country’s hottest beach destinations, and will have 1,001 rooms making it the biggest hotel in the country in terms of room count.
Hotel 101 Resort-Boracay will rise on a two-hectare property on the beachfront cove of Boracay Newcoast. It’s a 150-hectare tourism estate, which was developed by Global-Estate Resorts, a subsidiary of Megaworld Corp.
It was announced at the Philippine Stock Exchange that the new property is targeted to open by the fourth quarter of 2020.
“This new eco-friendly greenergized hotel project in Boracay puts forward our grand vision to be a major player in the hotel and resorts industry in the country. It will certainly boost DoubleDragon’s recurring revenues through years and will also significantly help generate economic benefits to the people of Boracay as well as contribute to pump-prime further the world-class reputation of the Island and the Philippines as a tourist destination,” DoubleDragon Chairman Edgar Sia II said.
Hotel 101 Resort-Boracay is the fourth property of the brand, which aims to manage a total of 5,000 hotel rooms in its portfolio by 2020. The brand is already operating Hotel 101 Manila and is currently building two more properties – Hotel 101 Fort and Hotel 101 Davao.
The resort hotel will boast of environmentally sustainable features to promote eco-friendly tourism in the country. The property is expected to be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) certified development.
Some of its areas will be powered by solar panels and will be equipped with a rainwater harvesting system. It will adopt sustainable best practices and aim to reduce and reuse energy, waste, and water. The use of e-jeepneys, solar-powered street lamps, and flood-free drainage systems, will be incorporated into its environment.
Hotel 101 Resort-Boracay will highlight room suites with balconies, a pool and outdoor deck, a business centre, meeting rooms, a function hall, retail shops, and expansive food and beverage outlets.
Accommodations will be on a PHP 6,000 to 8,000 price range per night.
