NO MATTER your age, theme parks are exciting. Anticipating the giddy feeling of adrenaline rushing through your veins is sure to transport you back to a childlike state of eagerness to get through the turnstiles and into a themed land of fun.
Everybody knows of Disneyland (unless they grew up in a cupboard) and some know the little colorful brick-themed world that is Legoland, as well as SeaWorld and Madame Tussauds, but would you be surprised to learn that Malaysia has some seriously epic but lesser-known theme parks?
Legoland Malaysia’s aquarium resort to open by year end Staggeringly cheaper than the big parks, shorter queues, but still just as much fun to be had, here are five of Malaysia’s impressive theme parks suitable for a family day out and to get your adult dose of child-like fun.
Sunway Lagoon If you’re from Malaysia, you’ve probably heard of this multi-award winning theme park. Since it’s opening in 1993 it has been loved by thrillseekers from all over. It is easily accessible from multiple highways and close to major transportation hubs.

The park is separated into six brilliantly themed sections: Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, Water Park, Wildlife Park, Scream Park, Extreme Park, and Amusement Park. One ticket will gain you access to all parts, so nobody has to miss out on what they came for.

The iconic red and yellow Vuvuzela vortex ride can be seen as you approach the park. It may have a slightly longer wait time, but it’s worth it!

Lost World of Tambun Located further North on Malaysia’s peninsular, fun-enthusiasts can find the ancient-themed world of Tambun, in the city of Ipoh.

Here, guests can find explorer-themed rides and dip in and out of natural hot springs as well as pet adorable animals in the petting zoo.

Escape Escape is an epic, multi-sectioned theme park. Located on the idyllic island of Penang, it has national and global acclaim.

There are plenty of rides in this park, from giant water flumes and twisting slides to highwire rope courses which entails climbing up, down and across nets, scaling towers and zip-wiring down at the end. It’s not for the faint-hearted.

A’Farmosa Resort The theme park is located in the scenic southern city of Malacca, and like the others on the list, it has national recognition. The resort is encompassed by lush countryside as well as the ocean, so it’s an ideal place to bring a family of explorers.

20th Century Fox World Due to open later this year, but more likely 2019, is the highly-anticipated 20th Century Fox World. The park is building 25 different attractions and rides, based on blockbuster films such as Titanic, Alien vs. Predator, Ice Age, Planet of the Apes, Life of Pi, Night at the Museum, and all your other favorites.
