5 Instagram accounts we think you should be following

A PICTURE can speak a thousand words, or so the saying goes. But pictures go beyond words – they can transport you to a place you have never even been before.

Instagram allows users to explore places they have never visited, and create a giddy excitement for adventurous future travel plans.

The photo-sharing platform is set to reach one billion users by the start of 2018, according to a report by Mediakix. But with 800 million monthly active users and a steady rate of 60 pictures a second (5.2 million per day) being uploaded, it can be difficult to know who to follow.

Travel Wire Asia has selected five creative, adventurous and truly wondrous travel Insta accounts we think you should be following.

We asked them where their favorite place to photograph is: “Probably Indonesia. The combination of the local people, food and incredible scenery.”

Their key to getting the perfect shot is making sure you recognize yourself in the picture, injecting a little “living on the edge” feel and not being afraid to take lots of shots of the same thing to ensure you get the perfect one.

“During my travels, I prefer exploring offbeat tracks that are less popular and discovering new locations. I’m mostly attracted to peaceful and pristine locations out in nature, rather than in urban city areas,” she told Travel Wire Asia.

Chloe stresses that the perfect picture is one people can appreciate and which creates a conversation.

Cappadocia is a magical place. Even more magical at @sultan_cave_suites with Izmir. 🐶

Whilst filming in Greece we got to visit two very different refugee camps. My good friend @ariamark came back from the Moria camp very emotional from the stories of desperation he had heard there. This lady somehow kept calm in the chaos despite fighting for her families survival. I hope the frustration of seeing others suffer like this can drive people to fight against injustice. • 📷: @ariamark

One of my fave things to do is showing people around our backyard. Mainly because you learn so many different ways to look at things. Each person brings their unique perspective and it’s always interesting hearing it.. This week we have @lyesk and @bentibbettsphotography (pictured) and very winter-esque conditions, which is a treat.

Alex Strohl is based in Whitefish, Montana and tells stories through photography and film. The deep sultry tones that feature in almost every photo can make you feel quite alone and a little cold. But they have also the power to cast your mind to pure tranquillity, enabling you – if only for a moment – to forget the busy life you lead.

Love showing friends from out of town my favourite places in Montana.. I helps me remember what I felt the first time I discovered them..

Dialetheism. The idea that sometimes a thing and the opposite of a thing are true at the same time. Cool warmth and comfort without breath in a place that doesn't seem real, yet exists. – 📸Photo by @bejamin, a deep thinker and one of my favorite people to have existential conversations with. Words inspired by an interview I read with documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. #underwaterphotography #Freedive

Me, being a happy little lemur in Iceland. This was a waterfall @missholldoll and I saw off in the distance and, having no real itinerary, decided to hike to. I'm finishing my Iceland blog today if you had any specific questions let me know! I finished 90% of it on the plane because I was just so excited to write. Hope you guys have a gosh darn wonderful weekend💛 #Iceland #travelingwithlagoon #humanpoweredadventures

She is currently based in Mexico and having an epic adventure; from waterfalls and cliff edges, to mountaintop camping and practicing ballet while diving in crystal waters.

Her feed will make you want to quit your job, buy a straw hat and explore the world with your best friends and your own mind.

Front yard blessings on the last evening of our retreat. We danced around in the rain, hands clasped on hot mugs of tea over 3am conversations. So much vulnerability, joy, and honesty spilled on pages and from lips this week. This is a season of learning for me – about being unapologetically myself, living with intention and expressing myself truthfully. Grateful to have co-created with some wonderful women this week. #Iceland #luminous #whp🌈
