Anguilla announces openings post Irma

The Anguilla Tourism Board has announced several new openings and developments for 2018 post hurricane Irma.

These include hotel and restaurants, new flight routes, and more.

Carolyn Brown, director for the UK, Ireland & Scandinavia for the Anguilla Tourism Board, said: “We’re starting 2018 on a high with a number of new developments planned for the year, including a new scheduled flight from Antigua, making Anguilla easier to access for UK travellers.

“Since Irma hit in September 2017, Anguilla has flourished, making a remarkable and robust recovery. Over 30 hotels and villas have already reopened and we’re delighted to announce that a number of the five-star hotels damaged by Irma are set to re-open over the coming months, ahead of schedule. A large number of the islands restaurants have re-opened and the festivals are also back.”

‘There’s really no better time for new and existing visitors to experience all that Anguilla has to offer”..

Quintessence Hotel, a new luxury boutique property in the style of a grand tropical mansion, opened its doors to visitors on 1 January 2018. Located on Anguilla’s west side, overlooking the white sandy beaches of Long Bay, the property is owned by US Attorney Geoffrey Fieger who lives on the Island.

From Tuesday 16 January, there will be a new scheduled service between Anguilla and Antigua, operated by Trans Anguilla Airways. The service will run four days per week, connecting visitors with the popular British Airways and Virgin Atlantic services from London to Antigua.

The short flight, which takes 50 minutes, will operate both ways on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Return fares from $480 UDS (approx. £355). Book
