The Rama IX Museum, dubbed the largest museum in Asean and the largest centre for learning about Thailand's environment and ecological system, opened its doors to the public last month.

Located in tambon Klong Ha of Pathum Thani's Klong Luang district, the museum is divided into three zones — "Our Home", "Our Life" and "Our King" — featuring a range of knowledge on the development of humans, the country's environment and ecological system and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great's dedication to his people.

The 1.6-billion-baht museum, built to celebrate the late King's contributions to technology and science, expects at least one million visitors yearly.

Operated by the Science and Technology Ministry, the museum offers visual displays, detailed information as well as in-depth stories about the beloved late monarch.

The ministry plans to promote the site as a new tourist attraction.
