IF you are traveling from Dubai, you would probably need to keep a close eye for changes in your departure terminal so you will not run into the risk of missing your flight.

This is because airlines will soon start reshuffling their operations following the upcoming closure of the southern runway of Dubai International Airport (DXB) to facilitate a full renovation.

According to Gulf News, flydubai will be moving flights to Al Maktoum International (DWC) for 42 destinations including those bound from India, Pakistan, Sudan, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Nepal from April 16 to May 30.

And out of the 42 routes, at least eight will be operating from DXB and the terminal in Jebel Ali. These include those heading to Alexandria, Bahrain, Dammam, Jeddah, Kabul, Kathmandu, Kuwait, and Muscat.

The full list of flights that will be operating from DWC from April 16 to May 30 include:

“We advise all travelers to arrive at the check-in desks two to three hours prior to their flight departure time. We encourage all passengers arriving into Dubai to check their airport of arrival and to remind anyone who’s picking them up that they might be arriving at Dubai World Central (DWC),” flydubai said.

DWC is located about 60 kilometers away from the Dubai World Trade Centre. In view of this change, the Dubai Taxi Corporation has also announced that flag down rates for taxis from DWC will be reduced by 75 percent, from Dh20 to Dh5.

Emirates’ travelers, however, have been advised that none of the flights will be diverting to DWC.

That having said, trips may be canceled, re-timed, or have the operating aircraft changed, as up to 48 aircraft will be grounded for 45 days to pave the way for the repairs. “The runway closure will result in up to 48 Emirates aircraft not being utilized, with a 25 percent reduction in the overall number of flights operated by the airline during the 45-day period,” Emirates explained.

Earlier this year, Emirates announced adjustments to its operations in 2019 to minimize the impact of the closure of DXB’s southern runway.
