TO improve tour experiences in the city, Hanoi’s Department of Tourism is offering training classes to residents of frequently visited areas.
As part of efforts to facilitate the tourism industry, people in Ba Trai, Van Hoa and Ba Vi communities in the suburban district of Ba Vi are being offered lessons on how to most effectively capitalize on the tourism boom while generating revenue for themselves.
Some of the things attendees will learn are the benefits of tourism, communication skills, as well as information about sustainable tourism and ways to be a responsible tour operator.

According to Saigoneer, Vu An Dan, head of the Tourism Department at Hanoi Open University, said the classes will be helpful if they “improve industry standards of professionalism and encourage foreign language competence”.
The capital of Vietnam is moving towards a greater emphasis on tourism, and Vietnam News reported that the government is identifying tourism as an important contributor to the city’s economy.
Other efforts including an increased investment in infrastructure like roads, railways and airports. Authorities are also looking to simplify immigration and investment laws.
In the first nine months of the year, Hanoi welcomed just under 18 million visitors, a 22 percent increase from the same period last year.
