2022 goes down in Pimalai Resort & Spa’s 21-year history as being one of its most successful years, despite the pandemic, as the Thai-owned property has received six awards. They are Tripadvisor’s “World’s Top 1% Best Hotels” title, Agoda.com’s “2022 Customer Review Award” (9.4 out of 10), Condé Nast Traveller’s “Top 15 Resorts in Thailand” and Boutique Hotel Awards 2022’s “Best Hotel with a View Asia 2022” and “World’s Best Hotel with a View 2022” titles.

Striving for sustainability since its conception, Pimalai’s effort was recognised as the resort achieved its “Green Globe Certificate,” which followed the latest independent audit of its business practices, this year. Finally, Pimalai signed up for the “Unesco Sustainable Travel Pledge” to show the property’s commitment to responsible travel. Moreover, Pimalai has abolished single-use plastic and is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s (SLH) Considerate Collection, an exclusive community of socially responsible and eco-conscious five-star hotels.

Koh Haa

Klong Chak Weterfall.

With 121 stylish rooms, spacious suites and pool villas across 100 acres of verdant jungle, cascading gently down to a 900-metre-long stretch of sand at Kantiang Bay, Pimalai offers both luxury and tranquillity. Guests can enjoy ocean and mountain views from their private balconies or the infinity pool while on-site activities include kayaking, cycling, Thai cooking classes, muay Thai boxing and yoga. Small-group excursions can be arranged to explore Klong Chak Waterfall, idyllic offshore islands or famous diving and snorkelling sites such as Koh Haa and Koh Rok. The award-winning Pimalai Spa offers soothing therapies in the midst of the lush jungle, while two seafront restaurants Rak Talay and Seven Seas use local and seasonal produce.

Guests can take part in many eco-friendly activities, such as beach cleaning, turtle release programmes, mangrove tours and more. Pimalai’s tours and excursions also directly support communities such as a visit to Lanta Old Town where guests can purchase authentic handicrafts, dine at local restaurants and more.

As travelling returns to the old normal, Pimalai prepares to welcome back guests with beach villa renovations, additional spa therapies and feasts. The Thai night buffet takes place every Wednesday night at Spice N’ Rice restaurant. Rak Talay Beach Restaurant will host surf and turf night on Sunday. Seven Seas will hold an Italian night buffet on Dec 26. More sustainable initiatives, including Pimalai-owned reusable glass bottled water, are in the pipeline.
