The Standard, Hua Hin and Standard Sounds present Roots Tone.
Standard Sounds, The Standard’s music talent-scouting arm, is bringing its latest discovery — Thai reggae band Roots Tone — to The Standard, Hua Hin on May 20.
Formed in Bangkok in 2010, Roots Tone brings together diverse musicians from different ethnicities and backgrounds who jointly compose original scores and lyrics that combine the band’s early rocksteady sound with later excursions into reggae dub. Their latest song Reflection Trip offers musings on the fleeting nature of life and the uncertainty of the future, while encouraging the listener to accept and understand the impermanence of things.
To add a special touch to this edition of Standard Sounds, chef Ox of The Banana Ketchup will be serving up his signature Caribbean tapas, creating the perfect blend of reggae music and Caribbean cuisine.
Those who want to make a weekend out of it can book the new Villa Vibes promotion by using promo code “villavibes” on the hotel website. Canopy Villa (8,999 baht per night based on double occupancy) includes breakfast for two. Standard Pool Villa (11,499 baht per night based on double occupancy) also includes breakfast for two.
