SINGAPORE Airlines is taking airline luxury to another level with an US$850 million investment in new cabin products on its Airbus A380 fleet.
The airline launched the new high-class range on Thursday as it gave the media its first look at the spacious new re-fit that has been four years in the making.
Embodying the theme “Space made personal, experience the difference,” all classes are set for an overhaul offering more space and privacy and a few luxurious features to make the journey more comfortable, including separate, fully adjustable seats with plush leather upholstery.

Being the first airline to put a double bed in its cabins, Singapore have gone a step further with their extended suites for its most premiere customers. Having cut the number of suites from twelve to six, the airline has been able to incorporate some added touches, such as an adjustable recline swivel chair and a double bathroom – one of which has a sit-down vanity counter. For couples traveling together, there is the option to convert two suites into a double bed.

The new cabin products will be fitted to its entire Airbus A380 fleet, including retrofit work on 14 aircraft that are already in service.
Good news is you’ll be able to start enjoying these impressive new furnishings from next month on the brand new A380s on order with Airbus, the first of which will be on the Singapore to Sydney route. All retrofit is slated to be finished by 2020.
The five new A380s will seat 471 people. In addition to the six suites, there will be 78 business class seats on the upper deck, and 44 premium economy and 343 regular economy class seats on the main deck.

The revamp comes as competition between the top airlines is fierce. Airlines have been trying to outdo each other when it comes to pampering the upscale business traveller in a bid to boost profits.
While no one can deny the luxury of Singapore’s extravagant new premiere flying experience, they stop short of including an in-flight shower as Etihad offers in its Residence suites.
There will also be no common lounge or bar area, as can be seen on Emirates flights. According to Bloomberg, Singapore Air says feedback indicates passengers don’t want a bar, but more private space and convenient storage.
“The introduction of our all-new cabin products is intended to ensure we retain our product leadership position,” said Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Product and Services, Marvin Tan.
“The significant investment in the new product and service offerings demonstrates that we are always listening to our customers, and ensuring that we continue to deliver the world’s best travel experience.”
