Thai wooden home with a modern twist Mae Hong Son. AIRBNB
With the holiday season just around the corner, Airbnb recently released a YouGov survey that found that over 30% of Thais want to travel to rural destinations, especially to more remote and off-the-beaten-path destinations.
Among the top destinations are Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son and Phetchabun.
For Chiang Mai, travellers can dive into local culture with the “Chiang Mai Street Art Tour And Workshop” or learn how to make delicious dishes with the “Chiang Mai Lanna Cooking Experience”. In Chiang Rai, they can enjoy the “Tour The Colorful Chiang Rai Temples” trip while seeking out local arts and crafts and enjoying the wide array of food options across the province.
Known as “little Switzerland” for its cooler weather and mountain ranges that during the cool season can be shrouded in mist, Phetchabun offers a convenient escape from the capital’s hustle and bustle. Mae Hong Son is home to beautiful temples, breathtaking waterfalls, hilltribe villages, popular night markets filled with local arts and crafts, and tasty delicacies.
